How do you escape from Malaysia? Get someone to employ you in Thailand and get a work permit to go with it? I'm trying to understand how to just pack up and leave.
It's a bit harder than what all these digital nomad tell you. I'll admit I'm privileged. I've got skills that allows me to work remotely for the past 10 years and helps me earn a little more than your average Malaysian. I also has 0 assets and 0 liabilities and some runway in terms of savings but I don't dip into it which allows me to make risky but calculated moves. The rest is just minimizing your belongings into a luggage and sacrificing a lot of things(gaming, friends, dating etc) .
Plus holding Malaysian passport allows me 90 days by default and i can just come back to Malaysia for a month when I miss the food/friends and go back again after another month in, let's say Indonesia/other neighbouring countries or even other states in Malaysia. I started also consulting instead and charging 2x of my normal rate since my skills is sought after. I would say build a steady income and some savings first but it really differs from a person to another.
It’s so funny how we’re arriving at this stage where “burning our lives down and starting over” makes the most sense. Here’s to making it better this time around!
❤️ It takes alot to be able to reflect this way and then share it. Great read for me
